UNDP highlights importance of data collection and sharing at Second National Communication to the UNFCCC board meeting

The importance of completing the document by the end of the year and submitting it to the UNFCCC secretariat at the beginning of 2019 was also underlined

Mr. Alamgir Hossain, SNC Project Manager and Chief Technical Advisor presented an overview of progress during 2017 and plans for 2018

The third project board meeting of Timor-Leste’s Second National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held at the Directorate General of Environment on 08 March 2018.

Mr. João Carlos Soares, Director General of Environment and Chair of the Project Board advised that challenges in completing the National Communications is lack of data and information and also the difficulty of accessing the available data from relevant ministries. Therefore, it is critical for the project board to discuss and find solutions on such issues.

Ms. Felisberta Moniz da Silva, UNDP representative, highlighted the purpose of the project board meeting for relevant stakeholders, which is to review issues and discuss how to make the best use of resources to deliver the best results. She also underlined  the importance of completing the document by the end of the year and submitting it to the UNFCCC secretariat at the beginning of 2019.
